During the Spring Term, our Remote Education Plan has been put into practice. Our school, like all other schools in England, are closed until  March 8th 2021, at the earliest.

Our Remote Education Plan has been carefully thought through and planned for the children of our school. It will vary from the provision other schools may be offering, but we feel it is the right plan for our children. We have taken on board the feedback and learning from the previous school closure in the Spring and Summer Terms 2020. We evaluated the provision and listened to feedback from parents and staff to create our Remote Education Plan for this closure.

Our Remote Learning is a combination of whole class online sessions, group online sessions, 1:1 online sessions and independent completion of individual tasks on and offline. Children complete five activities each day to suit their age and stage of development. This meets the requirements the DfE have set for up to 3 hours of learning for Foundation Stage and KS1 and 3 hours for KS2. Their learning activities include daily reading/writing, maths, a foundation subject, Spelling Shed and Numbots or Times Table Rockstars. The activities will be presented in a variety of formats and will continue to practice and develop different knowledge, skills and applications. Learning will be practical, physical and recorded in a range of ways - pictorial, written, audio recorded, video recorded, photographed. The amount of screen time has been considered and kept to an appropriate level.

Each class teacher has planned for their year group appropriately to cover relevant learning. This may be consolidating and practising existing learning as well as teaching new concepts and learning. Class teachers communicate the daily learning on Tapestry (YR) or ClassDojo (Y1-6). This is uploaded the day before so parents have access and can prepare for the day ahead. Mondays learning is uploaded on a Friday afternoon. Parents should get in touch with their child's class teacher with any specific query about their child's remote learning. This should be done on Tapestry or ClassDojo.

Marking and feedback of learning takes place on the Tapestry and ClassDojo platforms. Children have individual journals or portfolios which allows direct communication between individual children and the class teacher. There is also a message function for parents to share observations, comments and concerns.

Remote Learning is celebrated individually on a daily basis though marking and feedback, as classes collectively through a weekly Learning Celebration Post and monthly in our whole school monthly newsletters.
